Daryl Guppy & MetaStock (GMMA)

by David Jenyns on September 29, 2009

Daryl GuppyI was pretty chaffed the other day when Daryl Guppy emailed asking if I’d write up an article for his clients on how to create a MetaStock exploration using his Guppy Multiple Moving Average (GMMA) indicator.

I’ve known Daryl for quite a few years now and have always loved his work – of course I was only too happy to help out. I’ve just finished it and thought you might like a free copy? Click here to download the PDF.

I also recorded a short video walking you through how it all works (watch it below).

One final thing… I’ve just arranged to have an interview with Daryl this weekend while he’s visiting Melbourne for the Trader’s Expo. I was thinking, if you’ve got any questions you’d like me to ask him, please just submit them as a comment below and I’ll be sure to ask on your behalf.

Your Trading Coach,

David Jenyns

Ps. Remember to submit your questions!

PPs. Here’s the video to accompany the article (download the PDF here).

Thanks for the opportunity… please ask Daryl what his favourite entries signals are.

Looking forward to the answer.

Keep up the good work… loved your last few videos!

Appreciate your sharing this with us – very useful, as I’ve always wondered how to determine how the 2 grps of MAs cross. Great, clear video. Keep it up!!

Hello David,

I have a formula that I use in stratergy desk and it is creating good results on any time frame but the signals on the chart go on and off, is their a way to make the signals permanent no matter conditions change with the bars, as it gives buy signal and couple of bars later buy signal disappers because of the conditions change…I also use metastock

Please ask Daryl if he is familiar with Dr Bill Williams moving averages and his MACD indicators in MT4. ? If he is then how does his GMMA conpare ?

Bryan Escalante Cardenas September 30, 2009 at 10:36 am

Thanks David for the GMMA. Could You please post the metatrader code for the Hull Range Indicator that Daryl uses in his software Guppy traders. I have found this code but is not the same shape as Daryl´s software. it is not the same code.
Best Regards

Thanks David.

This is one of your best emails by the way.

1. Very clear presentation on the technique and exploration (both on
Metastock and Guppy).

2. PDF supplements the video.

3. Specific link to guppy site which after your video the chart on his site
now makes perfect sense (on phases and trend strength).

Just wanted to let you know.

Best regards

Ian

David,
Ask Daryl what formula or system he thinks is the most accurate in predicting a stock’s next day price range.

David Jenyns October 1, 2009 at 7:54 am

Zac: Cheers

Chu: No worries

Sri: You might like to check out the MPSG it’ll show you how to answer most of your MetaStock questions:
http://www.meta-formula.com/Metastock-Programming-Study-Guide.html

Anjan: I’ll ask Daryl for his comments on the Indian market.

Robin: Will do.

Bryan: I haven’t really used MetaTrader, my expertise is with MetaStock. Not too sure I can help on this one.

Iru: It is my pleasure

Ian: Glad you enjoyed it.

Joe: Will do (I’ll be interested to know this myself)

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Your Trading Coach,

David Jenyns

Hi guys and girls,

The Guppy interview went really well… and we covered some amazing material.

I also asked your questions (Robin, Iru & Joe)… I’ll get the video edited and uploaded for you this week.

Stay tuned.

Your Trading Coach,

Dave

Ps. Gavin: I agree… top bloke.

MIA October 24, 2009 at 3:12 pm

hi david,

I surprised to find here.I kindly request you to help me about the formula below.

what is the full meaning of “Std” in this formula? Is it standart deviation? It seems it is not.

so what?

you are a METASTOCK pro and it is a piece of cake for you.

((C+2*Std(C,21)-Mov(C,21,S))/(4*(Std(C,21)))*100

thanks,

David Jenyns October 24, 2009 at 8:10 pm

Hi Mia,

Unfortunately I haven’t committed the 300+ pre-programmed indicators to memory ;) Moreover, MetaStock is constantly adding new ones to each new subsequent version of MetaStock. “std” isn’t in my version and you’re right, it’s not Standard Deviation.

Unfortunately I don’t have an answer for you off hand but, please let me know if you’re a Metastock Programming Study Guide owner and, if you are, I’m happy to use one of your coding requests to look into it further.

If not, please check out the study guide here:
http://www.meta-formula.com/Metastock-Programming-Study-Guide.html

Sorry I couldn’t just get you the answer on this one… I’ll have to look into it further.

Your Trading Coach,

David Jenyns
