Ken Evoy: The Extremely Rare Interview

Ken-EvoyToday I really do have quite a treat for you… I have lined up an interview that is as rare as hen’s teeth. An interview with my mentor Ken Evoy.

Now what makes it so rare? Well, I can count the number of interviews Ken has done over the years on one hand. Heck he’s even been asked to keynote many seminars, being offered as much as $20,000 for one presentation… and you know what? He always turns them down.

Who is this guy?!

Ken Evoy is what you’d consider one of the God Fathers of online marketing. He’s been there from the start and always on the bleeding edge. His original manual ‘Make Your Site Sell‘ (MYSS), at the time of its publication, was so ahead of anything else out there it was ridiculous – even today, 8+ years on, it’s a great read filled with loads of evergreen information. Some of the cutting edge stuff of 1999 has obviously become “out of date” but, if you read it, you’ll find much of the information is still relevant today… and it’s free!

Perhaps one of Ken’s most well known accomplishments is his Site Build It (SBI) system. This program has produced more successful online businesses than anything else online! In fact, SBI sites have been featured on Oprah, BBC, MSNBC and in The New York Times, USA Today and Chicago Tribune.

Now before I start to come across like some SiteSell fanboy (and I am), I want you to understand where I’m coming from.

I first started using SBI back in 2003 (shortly after reading MYSS in 2002) and it’s now developed into the backbone of my most successful website www.meta-formula.com.  This website kicks some serious butt in my niche. I suppose that makes me a little biased but, for me, the proof is in the pudding.

    Hi David,

Fantastic interview – love it how Ken does so much of the talking; It’s the SBI Forums in audio format!

I bought SBI in October 2008 (via your link ;-) ) and I’ve never looked back. Two top 0.5% traffic sites, an education in marketing on the web and a solid, growing business.

    David;

I just listened to the interview – thanks for that!

I always get so much out of listening to Ken Evoy speak.

I once stayed up really late holding trying to get to talk to Ken when he was being interviewed and taking questions on the radio. I was one call away from talking to him.

I didn’t have much of a question, I guess I am just (fan girl) of SBI.

I have learned so much, and I am one of those normal everyday people who is building a business – not just a site.

    So, Thanks again.

    Man can Ken talk Smile

Got a donkey here with no hind legs Smile

Very interesting to listen to. I think for most of us here we already get what Ken is saying (or we wouldn’t be here) but for me it really came through how much Ken believes in it himself and how he really does want people using SBI to succeed.

Thanks David for putting it up.

    Thanks David,

This interview is gotta be a must for everyone!

It really is worth investing an hour of your time to listen.

Set aside an hour when you won’t be disturbed.

As for the most interesting point, wow, there were so many but for me it was Ken’s integrity, it just shone through.

Thanks again David, and thanks Ken for everything!!!

  9. Lora says:

What it is, as what it was when I first came across SBI! and read the literature, is the integrity. The integrity and honesty shines through.

Truth, they say, is stranger than fiction, and I’ll tell you something else – Truth (and Integrity) and a great product is way better than a fictitious get rich quick scheme.

Keep it Real! And you have, Ken… Real Good too.

    Lora

PS… You talk as long as you write LOL But guess what, it’s all good.

  13. Raymond says:

This interview helped me in more then one way.

    - First it made my walk in the countryside even more pleasant ’cause I had something worthwhile to listen to whilst I was burning calories (nearly 1.000)

    - I enjoyed listening to both speakers. Both have very pleasant voices to listen to. Their passion for what they are doing clearly shines through!

    - The call made me think. And take action! I killed one of by blogs because it had nothing to do with building a business. And it wasn’t a hobby either.

Thanks David. Thanks Ken. For this free lesson.

    take care,

    Raymond

thanks for taking the effort of going after the man behiind SBI. I am pretty sure that we benefit much from this interview. Hope your hosting plan will cover the massive bandwidth use all the downloads take :)
What I liked besides the interview is the comment from Raymond above:
‘- The call made me think. And take action! I killed one of by blogs because it had nothing to do with building a business. And it wasn’t a hobby either.’
