Buying & Selling Websites Podcast

by David Jenyns

The back story.
Danny: I have an idea… do you want to make a podcast about buying and selling websites?
Ryan: Yeah cool, what should we call it?
Dave: No idea, let’s just get it started and see what happens.

Click play below to find out what happens next…

Here’s just a few things we chatted about:
- How Lynn Terry could have improved her recent 5000 backlinks auction? (http://flippa.com/auctions/97350)
- Is the start up websites market dead on Flippa.com?
- What’s the deal with Flippa’s new interface?
- How we acquired www.flippingawesome.com
& plenty of witty banter.

Anyway, take a look and let us know what you think. Also, take a stab at naming the podcast and who knows, you might score yourself some goodies.

Hi, David, Ryan, Danny – Like the podcast, interesting banter! USEFUL too. I am guilty of holding many domains half-done, half-loved, in the process of changing that bad habit. Love the Quote from Danny at the end about “Just gotta make sites with more love put into them”. It really boils down to that, all round, don’t ya think?

A name for your podcast, what about Love Your Sites to Death (Or Flip Them, whichever comes first.) Kind of a long name, not catchy, but an idea starter, I guess…

Best for now,
Mary

Hi Mary,

Thanks for the reply (and sorry for my delayed response)!

I agreed in short, just work on websites that add value to the end user :)

As for the name, we’re still making final decisions but will add yours to the list for sure… if you end up winning we’ll be sure to send you some flippa.com goodies (t-shirt and free credit).

Thanks again.
Dave

Ps. We’ll be posting episode #2 shortly, so stay tuned!

Left a comment in the other post (I think newer than this), looks like I should’ve gone here first! Great vid, thanks for that. Gives me a bit of insight on how buying and selling domains/websites work. Got my work cut out for me, but it’s a great start :)

Hehehe… thanks Franz. Yeah there’s lots on this blog. Sometimes you never know what you’ll find if you just dig in :)

I didn’t notice this until now, but I am guilty of buying new domains every time not knowing what to do with those ( I just want to secure the name for myself, that’s it). :)

Anyway, I have found out through this podcast that there’s an art and science to flipping sites, even if I find this podcast more fit for people who are more experienced in doing so. Do you know any podcast link with basic stuff on buying and selling websites?

Thanks and have a great day!

This whole ‘flippa’ idea is amazing to me, I have been browsing the site while listening to you guys and I think I am going to try to get into something like this… hope to see a lot more information from you on how to be successful with it.

This is cool! I’ve been buying new domain names each time I think of a new online venture when all the while I am losing out on the opportunities of having a great head start with the help of an already established domain. My only concern is I’m not good in assessing the value of a domain name, worse even a whole site.
